RØTATE GETS NEW COLORS!

I guess It’s been a moment! It feels like half the year almost flew by. Surprising, particularly seeing as the world is supposed to be at a standstill. Not going to lie – we’ve been unusually busy. Unusually not just by our metrics alone, by the measure of the world at large – a world that largely still works from home, a world that doesn’t party in crowded areas, cautious of being outside, and particularly cynical about flying from place to place. All rightfully so. By any logic, or standard of prognosis, this is a world that should be standing still, like a tagger that’s been busted in the act – blinded by a spotlight, with its hands up, against a wall covered with unfinished business. But no, this one is different. This one has street cred. Perhaps it has hidden its spray cans a moment before and now looks like it was casually strolling by and has nothing to do with what’s on the wall. This one will be back to finish what he started once the smoke clears. Somehow work goes on. As does life, really. The people, connections, partnerships, creative endeavors and ideas thrive on strife. And when it seems like everything is on the brink of collapse, new things emerge. Interesting, unusual, perhaps unlikely, but definitely unique things. Sure it’s done over the wires, or in small, carefully orchestrated gatherings with distances and proper face coverings in effect, or by mail, but regardless of how – the maker community is at it as much as ever. And we’re definitely glad to be part of it.

The pandemic has brought about some unlikely partnerships that have resulted in truly remarkable work and great collaborative endeavors. Project Rotate has teamed up with TheDesignCollaborative, and the LA LGBT Center to create a new limited series of minimalist clocks, the sales of which will go to benefit the LGBTQ community of Los Angeles. This joint venture debuted just in time for the LGBT History month, via a telethon hosted by the Center, and consists of 15 numbered sets of nine clocks each. The PRIDE series, as we have crowned it, features a selection of colors to match the LGBTQ flag, all with the word PRIDE engraved on the upper half of the face.

This is particularly exciting for us. In addition to launching a new product, we are meeting new people, working with new fabricators, and raw material suppliers. All of which, interestingly enough, are within a short drive from us. I suppose this makes us a hyper-local operation. And we really do like it that way.
